DVD X Copy Software
DVD X COPY is a computer copying software that was created in Chesterfield, MO by a company called 321 Studios. This computer program runs on a Windows PC, and requires a 500 MHz Pentium III processor, 128 MB RAM, and a 10 GB hard drive. DVD X COPY runs on versions of Windows 2000 or higher. It allows the user to make backup copies of any DVD, with the options of including DVD menus, trailers, and any special features. Most commercial DVDs exceed the 4.7 GB capacity of a blank DVD, but DVD X COPY has the ability to split chapters onto two separate discs without ruining the quality. The DVDs copied by DVD X COPY can be run on any PC, as well as any compatible DVD device. DVD X COPY does have an anti-piracy feature that does not allow a user to create copies of an already copied DVD, but it does not prevent the copying of original discs. This is up to the consumer to be aware of anti-piracy laws and the consequences.
DVD X COPY is not a difficult program to use; the user must first insert a blank DVD disc into the DVD reader of the PC and allow the program to create a temporary copy of the DVD onto the PC’s hard drive. After the DVD is copied, it transfers the content to the blank DVD located in the burner of the computer. During the burning process, the user has the option to include the title menus and trailers of the movie or to remove them entirely. The DVD X COPY program is a fast DVD burning software, so the entire process usually lasts about an hour depending on the PC’s performance and abilities. This program does take up a lot of memory, so to improve performance it is recommended to not run any programs during the burning process.
The DVD X COPY program ran into a lot of legal troubles in 2002, when 321 studios filed a suit against several Hollywood studios, claiming that the new DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), violated the Copyright Act of 1976. The Hollywood studios countersued 321 Studios, and the company had to cease all distribution of the DVD X COPY program in the United States for violating copyright law in February 2004. Eventually the company had to shut down operation following the ruling in August 2004 due to a great decrease in sales and revenue.
Although the company had shut down in 2004, the DVD X COPY website is now offering equivalent DVD burning and copying programs. It is recommended to use DVD neXt Copy and 1 Click DVD Copy for burning commercial DVDs. Both DVD neXt Copy and 1 CLICK DVD COPY are ranked number one in movie copying software and movie burning software. Both offer numerous program features as well as performance capabilities. They can be found on the 321 Studios DVD X COPY website, and as well as other equivalent burning and copying programs.
